WEEK 3 DOWNLOADS

** Download all music/video/sheets BEFORE class.

HOMEWORK:

CLASSWORK MIX:

Using the songs in the classwork downloads folder, recreate the mix taught in class. Follow the techniques (such as scratching and use of the upfaders) as closely as possible.

Record your mix with audio and video so the TAs can see what you are doing. Upload your video on the Homework Upload Drive. Select the correct week for the homework, find the "Homework Mix Uploads" folder and upload your video there. Label your file with "FirstNameLastName_Week#CW".

Note: For the classwork recording we’re only looking at the moments the DJ starts the transition and mixes out. Everything done in between the time waiting for the transition is likely the DJ practicing getting the cue point on beat, scratching on beat, or making sure the BPM is correct and aligns with the song. We don’t expect you to copy everything done during that time. We encourage you to use that time to practice rather than just waiting for the transition.

Tips: Use your notebook to write down what happens during a transition so you can reference it if you need when you mix! Add any cue points you need to help you remember where certain parts of a song are (like where the chorus ends, where you should fade out, etc.).

HOMEWORK MIX:

Using the songs in the homework downloads folder, create a mix using the techniques taught during class. You are responsible for choosing the order of the songs and mixing them together based on what you know (baby scratching it in, cue pointing it at full volume, pressing play at full volume, etc). Feel free to be as creative as you'd like!

Record your mix with audio and video so the TAs can see what you are doing. Upload your video on the Homework Upload Drive. Select the correct week for the homework, find the "Homework Mix Uploads" folder and upload your video there. Label your file with "FirstNameLastName_Week#HW".

Note: Here are some things to consider when deciding how you want to order the songs: 1. Do the 2 songs clash when played together? 2. Do two songs sound really good played together or after one another? 3. Any cool wordplay going on in the chorus and the incoming song?
