Ralph Xavier’s DJ journey started long before the Academy of DJs. The inspiration goes back to his time in Houston, where he would watch his favorite DJ, Elroy Boogie (RIP), light up the clubs in Washington, Midtown, etc. with the legendary Kracker Nuttz. When he later moved to Los Angeles, the pull of music only grew stronger, pushing him to finally start learning. If not now, then when? During the pandemic, he picked up his first controller—no music theory, no formal training—just a love for music and hours spent trying to blend OPM songs with R&B tracks. The mixes were high key not good at all lol, but every attempt felt fulfilling. Everyone has to start somewhere right? In 2024, a chance meeting made it all feel meant to be. While talking BBQ and Filipino food at a community pop-up, Ralph found himself in conversation with Jeff Labastida—the president of the Academy of DJs. They laughed about how Ralph had applied in the past, and it felt like the universe nudging him to try again.By June 2025, that nudge turned into reality. Ralph was accepted to the Academy of DJs, ready to keep learning and growing, one mix at a time. For him, DJing isn’t about reaching a finish line—it’s about the journey, the community, and the joy of always getting better.
